PURPOSE The Lead Pastor we seek is a man called by God into the gospel ministry, orthodox in theology as defined by the Articles of Faith of Ingleside, and committed to living and serving in a manner consistent with the standard set forth in Scripture for such leaders. The Lead Pastor of Ingleside is called by the church to lead in understanding, embracing, and accomplishing its mission as defined by the primary biblical purposes of worship, evangelism, fellowship, discipleship, and ministry. The Lead Pastor leads Ingleside through his primary biblical roles of overseer, evangelist, shepherd, lead preacher/teacher, and equipper according to Scripture as defined in our bylaws. RESPONSIBILITIES OVERSEER As Overseer, the Lead Pastor is the principal administrative leader and vision-caster of the church. EVANGELIST As Evangelist, the Lead Pastor models the practice of personal evangelism incumbent on every believer and ensures that the church is challenged and equipped to be obedient to the command of the Lord Jesus to “make disciples” locally and globally. SHEPHERD The Lead Pastor will model the heart of the Chief Shepherd, ensuring that the church is well led, fed, protected, and cared for as by a shepherd. PREACHER + TEACHER As the lead preacher/teacher, he is the primary communicator of God’s Word in public worship and ensures that the church is growing to maturity in Christ through the Spirit-anointed teaching of sound doctrine. EQUIPPER As equipper, the Lead Pastor partners with other leaders to empower and equip maturing members for significant service and ministry by discovering, developing, and deploying their spiritual gifts. As a multi- generational church, Ingleside offers four worship services each Sunday featuring three distinct musical styles, with around 2,000 worshipers participating. Our weekly TV broadcast and other streaming services touch over 10,000 homes regionally and around the globe. Ingleside Baptist Church in Macon, Georgia, is searching for our next Lead Pastor to usher a thriving and healthy church into its next chapter. After 34 years of dedicated leadership, Dr. Tim McCoy, our current Lead Pastor, has announced plans to retire in June 2024. It is with profound gratitude for his exemplary integrity, biblical wisdom, heart for discipleship, and servant leadership that Ingleside begins this search. Acknowledging the biblical mandate to pass the baton of faith to the next-generation, Ingleside has adopted the saying that we are a “multi-generational church with a next- generation orientation.” Based on a clear mission, “to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the glory of God,” the church is poised to reach more people than ever because of the spiritual passion, mission-mindedness, financial stability, and excellent leadership the Lord has provided.
